I had the privilege of participating in the “Hack Medical Affairs” NLP Hackathon, co-hosted by the University of Cambridge and Envision Pharma Group at the Maxwell Centre.
Our mission was ambitious: to use AI to analyze clinical trial abstracts, extract critical demographic insights, and identify gaps in treatment outcomes for autoimmune diseases. These conditions are particularly challenging due to their complexity and the vast diversity in patient or doctor responses. I was both excited and apprehensive as I joined forces with my incredible teammates (also classmates)—William Booth-Clibborn, William Purvis, Yuhan Wang, and Ying Huang. Despite the challenges ahead, we dove in headfirst.
